Sokoto State Police Command has paraded a 35-year-old man for planning the abduction of his stepfather in Sokoto.

The suspect was paraded alongside a 25-year-old accomplice, whose role in the saga was described as ‘professional.’Parading the suspects at the command headquarters, Sokoto State Police Commissioner, Kamaldeen Okunlola, said the suspects threatened their victim and demanded payment of N5 milion as ransom or risked being killed.
 
According to the police commissioner, “the victim involved the police State Intelligence Bureau, who engaged the suspected kidnappers in a negotiation and beat down the ransom to N500,000 from the initial N5 million.
 
“It is in the process of collecting the ransom that the police apprehended one of the suspects, who later revealed the identity of his accomplice, who happened to be the stepson of the victim.
 
“The 25-year-old accomplice alleged that the stepson of the victim is the mastermind of the crime and provided him with information upon which he acted through the period he was threatening the victim.”
  
Also paraded are suspected criminal syndicates specialised in producing fake number plates within the Sokoto metropolis.The suspects were arrested by men of the security joint patrol, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps,  and men of the Nigeria Police.
 
The commissioner said the suspects were arrested from different locations within the metropolis, including Emir Yahaya and Ahmadu Bello Way.
