Former Manchester United star, Wayne Rooney has told Ralf Rangnick to start building a team and not a group of individual players.
Rooney said he is concerned about the new system under Ralf Rangnick, adding that teams such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City could punish United.
The German manager suffered his first defeat in charge of Manchester United on Monday with a 1-0 loss at home to Wolves.
Rooney believes the tactics being brought about by Rangnick could ‘punish’ United when they play the top teams.
“I’ve been to a few games, taken my kids,” Rooney told The Athletic.
“Obviously it’s been difficult for them. I think it had got to the point with Ole where everyone could see it was coming to an end.
“With the new manager now, you don’t know. I’m sure it’s a lot different to anywhere he has managed before. There’s a lot more pressure, managing a lot of high-profile players.
“I was at his first game against Crystal Palace and I thought they looked very good.
“My only concern, with that shape, was that when you come up against better teams – Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal – you could get punished.
“The most important thing is that the players need to buy into it. He needs to get them working as a group rather than as individuals.”
Manchester United’s next Premier League game is against Aston Villa and the Red Devils would hope to bounce back from their shock defeat to Wolves at Old Trafford.
The defeat meant that Rangnick’s men are now four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with their hope of playing in the Champions League next season gradually fading away.

Kenya confirmed on Tuesday its bid to host the 2025 Athletics World Championships, which if accepted, would bring the event to Africa for the first time.
Nairobi has hosted both the world under-18 and under-20 World Championships in the last four years, but faces a string of high-profile rivals including Tokyo, which staged the Olympic Games in July.
“We formally confirmed our bid to host the global championships on Friday October 1 which was the deadline set by World Athletics,” Athletics Kenya chief Jackson Tuwei told AFP.
“We organised two very successful world junior championships at the Kasarani stadium in 2017 and in August 2021, where a number of world records and personal bests were realised,” he said.
“We learnt a lot of lessons in staging both events, and realistically it is our time to bring the biggest event.”
Over the years, Kenya has become one of the countries to have produced the most successful long-distance runners, but has yet to see the World Championships elite runners perform in the country.
Africa has never hosted the World Athletics (WA) premier showpiece, which was first contested in Helsinki, Finland in 1983.
Kenyan sports minister Amina Mohammed first announced the country’s bid for the 2025 world championships in Doha in September 2019, after WA said the global event would be held on a rotational basis across continents.

Initiative to run from 30 September until 4 November; programme aimed at improving education and integrity capacity-building across FIFA’s member associations.
Following the integrity workshops that brought together member associations from the AFC, CONMEBOL and Concacaf regions, FIFA is due to start the fourth edition of its Global Integrity Programme, as the CAF member associations come together for five one-day sessions starting on 30 September.
The meetings, concluding on 4 November, will see integrity and anti-corruption experts from FIFA, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), CAF and other organisations share knowledge and discuss best practices with integrity officers from across Africa. The modules will focus on key topics, including establishing an integrity initiative, reporting mechanisms, competition protection, media strategy, cooperation between stakeholders, best practices and investigations.
In line with FIFA’s overall vision of making football truly global and its ongoing commitment to protecting and promoting the integrity of the game, the FIFA Global Integrity Programme is aimed at improving education and integrity capacity-building in all 211 member associations by sharing advanced know-how and resources with integrity officers. It also reflects the UNODC’s objective of supporting governments and sports organisations in their efforts to safeguard sport from corruption and crime.

Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has named Lionel Messi as the greatest player he has faced in his playing career.
Ronaldo revealed this in an interview with former CNN host, Piers Morgan.
Over the international break, the 36-year-old became the men’s leading international goalscorer of all time, following his match-winning brace against Ireland.
The Ronaldo-Messi ‘GOAT’ debate will last for years, but the Portugal captain has the utmost respect for Messi’s talent.
Morgan wrote in the Mail on Sunday: “‘Who’s the greatest footballer you’ve ever played against?’ I asked Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It was 1am on the candlelit terrace of his favourite restaurant in Turin, Italy, where he was still playing for Juventus before his recent sensational decision to rejoin Manchester United.
“It was time for the big question. ‘Messi,’ he replied, immediately and emphatically.
“Really?” I said, surprised that he would name his biggest rival.
“For sure. He is the best I’ve played against.”

Chelsea midfielder, Jorginho, has been named the UEFA Player of the Year.
This was confirmed on Thursday shortly after the draw for the Champions League group stage.
Jorginho wins the award ahead of teammate N’Golo Kante and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
The three midfielders were the final three on the shortlist for the prize.
Jorginho, 29, enjoyed a brilliant campaign in Europe last season as Chelsea won the Champions League.
His year got even better as he won the European Championships with Italy after playing in every match.
Jorginho is now favourite to win this year’s Ballon d’Or prize, as reward for his sublime performances over the past 12 months, along with PSG’s Lionel Messi.

Romelu Lukaku marked his second Chelsea debut with his first Premier League goal for the Blues as the European champions outclassed Arsenal 2-0 on Sunday to compound the Gunners’ miserable start to the season.
The Belgian has returned to Stamford Bridge for a club record £97 million ($132 million) as the missing piece of a proven goalscorer to turn the Champions League winners into English champions.
Thomas Tuchel’s men have made a formidable start towards that aim with six points, five goals scored and none conceded from their opening two games of the Premier League season.
Arsenal, by contrast, have yet to register a point or score a goal as the gulf between Mikel Arteta’s men and the title contenders was exposed.
Circumstances have also gone against Arteta as he lost £50 million signing Ben White before the game to the fifth positive case for coronavirus among his squad in the past 10 days.
A difficult start could get even worse with a trip to defending champions Manchester City next weekend before an international break.
Arsenal’s latest signings Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale were not registered in time to feature.
Those arrivals took the Gunners spending in the transfer window above any other Premier League club despite a fifth season without Champions League football.
But whereas Chelsea needed to fill just one position to complete a squad already stacked with quality, Arsenal appear to be starting from scratch.
A bright start in front of the first full house at the Emirates for 17 months quickly dissipated once Chelsea found their rhythm and began to play to Lukaku’s strengths.
The former Inter Milan striker received the ball with his back to goal on 15 minutes, shrugged off Pablo Mari as the ball was worked to Reece James on the right and then stayed onside to tap home his 114th Premier League goal for four different clubs.
Lukaku should have been given another on a plate moments later when James instead picked out Mason Mount, whose shot was deflected behind.
But Arsenal did not learn their lesson and afforded James huge spaces being the right.
Mount picked out his England teammate 10 minutes before half-time and James thrashed a brilliant finish high past Bernd Leno.
James, though, was lucky just before the break when his push on Bukayo Saka as he burst into the box went unpunished by both referee Paul Tierney and VAR.
Rob Holding should have halved Arsenal’s deficit after the break when the centre-back headed wide from close range.
At the other end Leno also did his case to hold off Ramsdale as number one no harm with an incredible save to deny Lukaku a debut double as he turned a bullet header onto the crossbar.
Lukaku turned away in disbelief as he watched the replay on a big screen, but his presence has blown away any lasting doubts over Chelsea’s ability to challenge City in the title race this season.

Team Nigeria became the centre of attraction at the Kasarani Stadium, venue of the ongoing World U20 Championship in Nairobi yesterday, as the country’s 4x400m mixed relay team grabbed the first gold medal at the event. They also set Championship record twice.
After Nnamani Johnson, Opeyemi Oke, Ajayi Bamidele and Imaobong Nse Uko dazzled the spectators with a new record of 3:21.66 on their way to the final, the athletes increased their pace in the final race to shock the entire crowd with their spectacular display of talent, which earned Team Nigeria, the gold medal with another Championship record of 3; 19.70.
The first time in a long while, Nigeria’s flag was held by the athletes running round the entire stadium with cheers from the spectators.
In the women’s 100m semifinal event, Praise Ofuku gave the spectators a tip of what to expect in today’s final as she powered past all contestants to anchor at a time of 11.57 seconds. She came from behind to win the ticket to the final.
Nigeria’s hope of having two women.runners in today’s 100m final was aborted when Godbless Tima ran a slow race of 11.61 second to finish in the 8th position.
Tima had earlier in the day run 11.59sec to raise the hope of Nigerians.
One of Nigeria’s best male junior sprinters, Godson Brume lived up to the expectations of the people yesterday, as he raced to the men’s 100m final in 10.24 seconds.
Brume, who is the younger brother of Tokyo Olympics medallist Ese Brume, had run 10.35 second earlier in the day to win the heat.
Team Nigeria now has two contestants in today’s 100m event, one each in male and female categories.
Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Tonobok Okowa was full of praises for the athletes and their coaches. He stated that the gold medal was a good beginning for the current AFN board.
Also, former AFN President Solomon Ogba commended the athletes saying: This is just the beginning.”

Lionel Messi arrived at Barcelona airport on Tuesday, set to board a flight to the French capital as Paris Saint-Germain look to complete the signing of the Argentinian superstar.
The 34-year-old was accompanied by his wife and three children as he entered El Prat airport just before 1:30 pm (1130 GMT).
His father Jorge, who is also his representative, arrived a short while earlier.
PSG have spent the last few days trying to finalise an agreement to sign Messi following his departure from Barcelona, the club he has represented for the entirety of his 17-year professional career so far.
The French side’s supporters began gathering on Monday outside the club’s Parc des Princes home and at Le Bourget airport to the north of the city hoping to catch a glimpse of Messi.
Meanwhile, the front-page headline in French sports daily L’Equipe on Tuesday hinted at the mood in Paris. “Growing restless”, it said, while inside it spoke of “the longest hours” as fans waited for an announcement.
Reports in Spain during the night talked of a “final offer” by Barcelona to try to keep the player at the club.
Instead, the mooted move to Paris is on the verge of being completed as Qatar-owned PSG prepare to add the six-time Ballon d’Or winner to an attack already featuring Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
PSG see Messi as the missing piece in their jigsaw as they chase the Champions League, the trophy they want more than anything else.
Off the field, talk of his move had added 1.2 million followers to PSG’s social media accounts since Friday.
“I am happy if he arrives in Paris,” new PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma told Sky Sports Italia on Monday outside his Parisian hotel.
“He is the strongest in the world, I am excited and happy at the thought of having him in the team.”
Coming to terms
Messi conceded at a tearful farewell news conference in Barcelona on Sunday that joining PSG was only a “possibility”.
In reality, with Abu Dhabi-owned Manchester City having ruled themselves out, PSG were about the only club who could afford what is expected to be a deal worth 35 million euros ($41 million) a year.
“I gave everything for Barcelona from the first day that I arrived right to the last. I never imagined having to say goodbye,” Messi said.

“I have still not come to terms with the reality of leaving this club now — I love this club.”
He leaves Barcelona with 672 goals in 778 appearances, a record tally for one club.
Messi won 35 trophies at the Camp Nou after joining Barca aged 13, but his last appearance was a damp squib: a 2-1 home defeat behind closed doors against Celta Vigo in May.
His trophy haul includes four Champions League and 10 La Liga titles.
“The greatest of all,” wrote Messi’s old Barcelona teammate Dani Alves — who won the Olympic gold with Brazil in Tokyo– in an Instagram message on Monday.
One group of Barcelona fans, represented by a Parisian lawyer, announced their intention to lodge a complaint with the European Commission in connection with the rules of financial fair play that Barcelona and PSG must follow.
‘Extraordinary for Ligue 1’
Despite offering to cut his salary by half to seal a new five-year contract which the club carrying debts of 1.2 billion euros and the player had agreed on, the deal foundered on strict Spanish league salary cap rules.
Messi’s arrival would make PSG even more obvious favourites to reclaim a French title they missed out on last season to Lille.
Some in Ligue 1 have mixed feelings about the impending arrival of arguably the greatest player of all time.

Lionel Messi has spoken directly with Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino as he moves closer to joining the French club after leaving Barcelona.
The 34-year-old is expected to sign a two-year contract next week, worth £25m a year after tax, with the option of a further year, with Messi and his father Jorge braced for the arrival of an offer this weekend.
Messi left Barcelona after the La Liga club were unable to fulfil a new contract that had been agreed with the player due to “financial and structural obstacles”.
PSG, managed by Messi’s compatriot Pochettino, quickly emerged as the frontrunners for his signature, in a move that would reunite him with former Barcelona team-mate Neymar.
Messi is open to joining PSG, but he and his representatives want to take time to assess their options following his shock exit from the Nou Camp, Skysports reports.
Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos and Georginio Wijnaldum have already arrived at the Parc des Princes on free transfers this summer.
Messi, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner, had officially been a free agent since July 1 after he failed to agree terms over a renewal before his previous Barca contract expired on June 30.

Super Eagles players and DStv brand ambassadors, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho will feature in the EPL curtain-raiser when FA Cup winners, Leicester City, take on Premier League champions, Manchester City, in the FA Community Shield this weekend.
The traditional FA Community Shield normally pits the Premier League Champions and FA Cup winners to herald each new season, with both sides seeking to clinch their first piece of silverware ahead of the new league season.
This is one game you would not want to miss as the stage is set for an exciting match-up. Manchester City is looking strong to win the game as they dominated their pre-season matches. Leicester, on the other hand, failed to win any of their games during the pre-season.
Last season, Leicester won the FA Cup as they defeated Chelsea in the final by 1-0, with the Nigerian duo playing vital roles as the Foxes lifted their first-ever FA Cup trophy, and “Senior man Kelz ” scoring four goals during the competition.
