Prior to joining the honours program at Renee Crown University, Adam was a lawyer for nearly a decade. He practiced corporate litigation at an international law firm based in New York and in the public interest at the New York Center Legal Services in Syracuse. In addition to his legal career, Adam worked briefly on political campaigns and as a substitute teacher in the Syracuse City School District. In his spare time, Adam enjoys cooking, reading and collecting records. Ali Cridge was born in Philadelphia and moved to Syracuse at the age of six. As a child, she spent many happy moments in the Adirondacks. In Peace Near Mountains and Snow, she attended Middlebury College in Vermont and earned a B.A. in English (with detours in creative writing and film) and a minor in political science. Ali played Division III tennis and studied abroad for a year in Bristol, England.
She needed travel money and found her coolest summer job fighting wildfires in a helicopter crew in Arizona, Idaho and Montana. Maybe life in the West seemed complete, because at 20 she was living in Colorado and Montana (and in the back of a pickup truck going up the coast). This was the decade Ali worked as a paralegal, journalist, writer, writing teacher, communications consultant, and served OG coffee before people used the word “barista.” In addition to the legal needs of employee compensation: employer/insurance company, she also assists clients in general legal disputes. Renee discovered her passion for the legal industry after graduation. Here, she has worked for a handful of small and medium-sized law firms in Brisbane in various areas of law. Hehnly and Nisenbaum`s proven track record of designing and delivering dynamic academic experiences, including research and professional development, makes them the perfect candidates for the new positions, said Lois Agnew, interim dean of A&S. Our vision invites many disciplines, perspectives and people to come together. We aim to promote the well-being of youth and the systems and adults that support them through interdisciplinary partnerships of research and practice. This is the joint work of the Renée Crown Wellness Institute.
We are a home of research and practice dedicated to the social and emotional well-being of all young people, and because we believe that well-being must be understood in context, the well-being of the adults who support it. Hehnly and Nisenbaum were selected for the new positions by a selection committee led by former Dean Karin Ruhlandt and Danielle Taana Smith, director of the honours program and professor of African American Studies at A&S. Hehnly and Nisenbaum will each serve a three-year term, teach specialization courses, and assist students specializing in their thesis research projects. Hehnly explains that integrated courses like Bio-Art, which combine the techniques and knowledge of science with the visual and textual expression of the arts, are essential in helping students understand and appreciate the natural world. By transforming biological samples into traditional illustrations, paintings, or murals, students can use art to bring abstract theories such as cellular processes to life. It strives to include similar courses in the specialization program curriculum. “As Crown professors, they will highlight the unique strengths of the honours program and continue to ensure that its curriculum exemplifies best practices and is fully aligned with the University`s academic priorities,” notes Agnew. “We are thrilled that specialty students will be able to participate in new and innovative learning opportunities led by exemplary leaders such as Professors Hehnly and Nisenbaum, who are leaders in their fields.” Karen moved from New York to Ohio after graduating from high school. There, she earned a bachelor`s degree in English with minors in women`s studies and education at Denison University. After two years of various (long) jobs, Karen attended Ohio State University, where she earned her master`s degree in English. In 1992, Karen returned to Syracuse and worked a number of creative jobs, ranging from computer programmers and loan clerks to full-service store managers, university professors, and accountants.
In the midst of all this, Karen attended Syracuse University, where she earned her PhD in English. Karen`s thesis explored the interrelationships between American popular culture and militarism, and she likes to say that she is a G.I. Joe scholar. She knows almost everything about the 12″ figure that Hasbro introduced to the toy world in 1964 (the year she was born!). She has published a scientific article on G.I. Joe published and was quoted in the New York Times after a reporter interviewed her on the subject! With nearly $3.5 million in government-funded research grants from the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense, among others, Hehnly and his team members address urgent health needs related to developmental disorders, genetic mutations, and cancer-causing genes. As part of the BioInspired Institute, Hehnly also works with university professors to develop and design materials to address global challenges in health, medicine and materials innovation. During the 2022-2023 academic year, Nisenbaum plans to teach two specialization courses: Introduction to Ethics and Philosophy and Literature. Crown received the Golden Plate Award from the American Academy of Achievement in 1989. He was inducted as a laureate of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois and received the Order of Lincoln (the state`s highest honor) in business and social services from the Governor of Illinois in 1999.[6] Adam Crowley was born in Oklahoma and raised in Missouri, central New York and Connecticut.[7] He earned a bachelor`s degree in political science from the University of Connecticut and then returned to central New York to study at Syracuse University School of Law. His research interests include refugee migration and resettlement, reconciliation and reconstruction in post-conflict societies, and relief and disaster management, with a particular focus on Africa and its diasporas. Dr. Smith has presented her work nationally and internationally. His research and writing have been published in scientific journals including Journal of Health and Social Policy, Global Public Health, Economic Development Quarterly, Development and Society, Journal of Black Studies and Liberian Studies Journal. Their son James is the president of Henry Crown & Co.[14] One daughter, Janet, is the founder and owner of Burn 60 Fitness Studios[15] and is divorced from star trainer Gunnar Peterson. [16] Among his seven children are members of the boards of directors of several major cultural institutions.
Another daughter, Susan, is president of the Holocaust Foundation. Together, family net worth exceeds ten billion dollars as of December 2020. [17] Hehnly`s specialized course, entitled “Light Microscopy and Illustration in Cell and Developmental Biology,” focuses on the fundamentals of cell and developmental biology, such as the mechanisms of embryonic development, cell division, tissue formation and maintenance, and how they are represented by images. Students learn about aspects of bio-artistic programming, visit microscopy facilities in Syracuse, and take courses in biological illustration.
