One of the most well-known functions of 7-Keto is its ability to accelerate thermogenesis and boost metabolism. Unlike caffeine, this is achieved without stimulation of the central nervous system (Davidson et al., 2000). It is a relatively well-studied compound that has shown promise as a weight loss supplement. One study found that human volunteers who received 7-keto supplementation in conjunction with diet and exercise lost nearly 3 times more weight than those who received placebo, diet, and exercise (Zenk et al., 2002). Similar studies have found equally positive results, with similar reductions in body weight in those supplemented with 7-keto (Kaiman et al., 2000), as well as a reduction in hip circumference (Zenk et al., 2005). 7-Keto has been the subject of clinical and safety trials. In a human safety study, doses of up to 200 mg of 7-keto/day were found to have no side effects. It has been concluded that 7-keto is safe and well tolerated by healthy people (Davidson et al., 2000), and all of the studies cited above have not reported any adverse events. Toxicological studies in rats fed a single huge dose (2000 mg/kg) also showed no signs of toxicity (Lardy et al., 1999). Similarly, studies on monkeys also showed no serious health effects when animals were given increasing doses of 7-keto up to 1000 mg/kg/day. However, the animals have been observed to vomit at higher doses (Henwood et al., 1999). The way 7-keto works in its ability to increase fat loss is to increase the body`s resting metabolic rate, perhaps by increasing the production of thyroid hormones (Kaiman et al., 2000). This has been proven several times in various studies.
One study found that 7-keto was able to increase resting metabolic rate by about 7.2% in combination with diet and exercise, compared to 0.7% for diet and exercise alone (Zenk et al., 2005). In another study with diet participants, it was found that diets alone resulted in a 3.9% decrease in metabolism, while supplementation with 7-keto during the diet resulted in a 1.4% increase in metabolism (Zenk et al., 2007). DHEA may have side effects, but taking this natural metabolite of DHEA has many of the same benefits as DHEA, even if it is not metabolized into sex hormones in the same way. 7-Keto DHEA also decreases naturally with age. 7-Keto is also known as 7-Keto-DHEA, 7-Keto-Dehydroepiandrosterone, 7-Oxo-Dehydroepiandrosterone or 3-Acetyl-7-oxo-dehydroepiandrosterone. It is a compound produced by the metabolism of the steroid prohormone dyhydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). However, unlike DHEA, it is not directly converted to testosterone or estrogen (Davidson et al., 2000). It is biologically active and it has been said that 7-keto can help with weight loss by increasing metabolism. Since 7-keto is a metabolite of DHEA, a precursor to the steroid hormone androgenic, it is on the World Anti-Doping Agency`s list of prohibited substances and methods.
Therefore, the use of 7-Keto is not suitable for those who participate in high-level sports subject to the jurisdiction of the World Anti-Doping Agency. When physiological doses are used and adjusted to keep test levels within the optimal physiological range, there is usually no significant change in other hormone levels and no side effects. Therefore, when DHEA is dosed based on the test results, there is a low risk of causing another hormonal imbalance. In cases where a conversion can occur significantly to create a hormonal imbalance, early tests will identify any problems, hence the dose or form of DHEA (7-keto), which is adjusted before the problems physically manifest. Contains none: wheat, gluten, soy, dairy, eggs, fish/shellfish or peanuts/nuts. 7-Keto has been shown to be effective at 200 mg/day (Kaiman et al., 2000; Zenk et al., 2002). It is also a dose that has been shown to be safe (Davidson et al., 2000). This dose can be divided into 100 mg servings taken 30 minutes before exercise or eating. Although DHEA is available in some countries such as the United States, it is a substance prohibited by Australian customs legislation. It cannot be imported into Australia. See: www.tga.gov.au/personal-importation-scheme However, feel free to send me my words back now that I`m going to write about a substance called DHEA, which I`ve been taking for about three months and that generates a lot of hot air and unsubstantiated claims on interwebs.
